Back again!!

After a long hiatus (of both time and my brain's working) here I am in the blogging world again!
for some reason it seems like there just isnt anything to write...nothing to say...gosh i just hope i am not that boring to people.

  • Work in office is going on as usual..I am designing a website for Staff appreciation day. You are welcome to check it out (http://sweb.uky.edu/~vgopa3/internal.htm). Click on staff appreciation website index to get to the webpage. Your comments and suggestions regarding this would be appreciated.
  • With all the fall 2004 students arriving in Lexington, evenings are kinda busy...time just flies by arranging for their pickups/picking them up etc., its unbeleivable that its been a year since i came here...time just flies soo fast
  • The weekend which went by there was this couple who were moving to Dallas and so they had this moving sale in which they were giving away some really good novels so i went there and picked up around 15 novels...lots of them i have already read but they were pretty good novels and i thought they were definitely worth having.
  • Ate "Thattai", "Muthusaram", and "Adhirasam".....today evening i am going to ISC volunteers meet....also have free pizza there....Now i am wondering what happened to the AWRP (Active Weight Reduction Plan) i started at the beginning of the week guess due the heavy traffic of both students and more importantly sweets and savories from India i will have to temporarily make the AWRP inactive for sometime.
  • Today evening...after the ISC meet...just more pickups......I feel i hardly get time to myself...for my reading...my work (as in things i need to do but dont get paid for) etc. Incidentally i dont sleep much either..nor do i freak out lots..i dont know what I do but time just flies by!

I guess that will be all for today...gotta get back to work.........

More later

A step closer towards insanity

Actually its been a while since i wrote because i dont have anything to write........i know its a pathetic way to start....perhaps this explains why i am soo unsuccssful with women...
well well it was a long tiring weekend...i realized how tiring moving can get...gosh it was a pain. Now having settled into my new house there are things i have to get done which i still havent done which i have been wanting to do for lotsa weeks now but havent had the time to do and when i have had the time i was too lazy to do it...jeez thats a long sentence....reminds me of what my roomie says...those who write long sentences really dont know what they want to say which i think is true in this case becase i really dont know what i want to write but am just writing because i want to write something. But it is important for people who think i have no work in office to note that rite now it is not like i dont have work to do...i do there are 3 images i need to work on in photoshop and then use them and make 3 17X22 posters for some conference which is gonna happen next month. then there are also a couple of websites i need to design for some dean. but currently i am just bored of working....i made some 6 flash files of "do you know" for a CD from the morning and have been typing loads and loads of stuff. the delicious grease dripping cheese pizza with bread sticks and raspberry flavoured sweetened ice tea lunch ofcourse did not make me feel any better and only made me all the more rowdys..Zzzzzzzzzzz.....i mean drowsy....
But i have a long evening ahead of me........5 guys are coming to UK from SVCE this fall which i think is a pretty good number.....i need to watch my weight......i have been watching it......steadily climb up during the years! I wonder sometimes what i am doing with my life....I guess its all a aprt of life....there are times when i feel like a total loser and times when i feel like i am the king of the world...but i know i am not either of the two...so am i a normal human being...i dont think so either...the whole problem is i dont know who i am...who am I? but life just goes on and it goes pretty darn fast too.....anybody who reads this would definitely know i am a pathetic writer but frankly i dont care because there are times when you get into a mood when you just want to do what you want to do and just dont care about what ppl think and say...i feel that way now.....its a disturbing yet a relaxing feeling and i know i am not making sense but like i said i dont care...you dont always have to make sense because there is peace in being insane.....there is this feeling of freedom...freedom from prison of sanity where in you are bound by stupid social etiquettes, cultural values, morals etc., which is not to say  I am an immoral person.....i do have morals which is why i believe there is freedom in insanity......but time heals everything...and tommorow i may be fine...this is what makes life soo intriguing and also at the same time pathetic!
But for the time being all i need to coffee and time to myself!

Typical Day in SVCE

Well everytime i talk to a friend of mine from college, one thing we definitely talk about is the good times we had in SVCE and how much we miss the college and more importantly the crowd. So i was thinking about what i typically did in svce as a undergrad student on a reguar working day....
Lemme start from the morning...
Generally used to get up at 7 am or so..to catch the 7.35 valluvar kottam bus (no: 41) from liberty.
Brush and drink coffee for like 10 minutes...
beeline to the bathroom, Shower and get ready in 10 minutes...
eat breakfast in like 5 minutes and leave home by 7.30 latest to get board the 7.35 bus..

The bus journey used to be intersting with me and parsa fighting over sam's lunch...listening to the dirty tamil songs(sometimes) played by the bus driver... sitting by the window with "full pushback" and the wind blowing hard on the face...i soo miss all that now.

We used to reach college by 9.05am and go straight to the canteen where my dear classmates (Mech class of 03') will be standing outside the canteen looking at the good looking girls (which were plenty) in our college...I used to shuttle between hogging Parsa's vadais and joining my classmates...
We generally used to stay there till like 9.25am or so (classes start at 9.15am) unless ofcourse our pinciple comes and chases us away..

It was soo much fun to go late to class and piss the lecturer off;) Then we used to sit for 2 hours looking at the time evry 5 minutes waiting for the first break waiting to get out...
the time in the class was usually spent playing/listening to music/eating/yapping/reading(strictly fiction only)/sleeping, also occasioanlly if there is a observation or record to be submitted that afternoon we used to work on that...errrr actually copy the readings and calculations.
and then finally would come the break...when we rushed to the canteen in the hope of getting some puff and tea.....the only 2 decently tasting stuff in our college. after spending about 20 minutes in the canteen, we mech guys used to start to walk back to the class which took about 6-7 minutes (though it took only 2-3 minutes to get to the canteen from class)......
to be continued.......

Weekend...nothing to do!!

got to office at 8.25am. was working on boring flash files....boring because the content of the files are supposed to be inspirational stuff but are kinda very touchy, mushy typical self impovement crap with a backgroud music that without fail puts me to sleep even if i have slept for 8 hours(which i rarely do) the previous night. Planning to go to a coffee shop called common grounds in high street which is supposed to be good..Ill stay this weekend in Lexington...probably cleaning the house as we will have to move out of our current apartment next weekend. Nothing much i have some flash and action scripting books which i have to read...just adds on the the amount of stuff i need to read...ISA is screening Hum Tum movie tonite...i probably might not b able to make it as i am going to common grounds..
no other specific plans for the weekend!! though i wish there was some....
Dil Chahta Hain....kabhi na kuzure....weekend ke din....lexington mein!!!
Dil Chahta hain...hum ne rahe kabhi....gadi ke bin!!

Trip to Florida!

Wouldnt it be wonderful to make a trip to Miami or Orlando, Florida...i was wondering...what is there in florida that makes all of us want to go there....is it the beaches...the hot women in skimpy clothes and string bikinis....the sun itself....Disney land...Universal Studios??? or is it all just a hype?? It makes me think about the good old days in chennai..the beautiful city where i didnt have to think or plan for going to the beach...the dirty but yet beautiful the stinky but yet refreashing beaches of Chennai...werent they awesome to hangout...sure they werent any bikini clad women but then there was soo much more...the spicy masala kadalai's which tortilla chips with salsa cant replace, the noodles and friend rice which was far better from the ones we get here in the USA...the Rs.5 Orange stick which felt better there than here...the thrill of running into old friends and acquaintances...there was soo much more to look foward to over there than over here. Sure going to the beach meant half a dozen stop lights, lotsa traffic, "mama thollai"..blah blah blah but then it was still more fun...it was because...living a perfect life gets very boring...i am not very sure if i am making any sense or even if i am, whether you guys are gonna understand what i am saying but what i am trying to do is to find the reason for the vaccum that exists within me...i know i probably cant fill it...atleast not in the near future but then was all this worth it at all???
I have heard ppl say that Indians in the USA are a very lucky lot cause they supposedly get the best of everything....I dont know how far this is true but i certainly think if it is true, its fair because nobody staying in India would have experienced the amount of difficulty that I or for that matter most of us in the United States have experienced in the United States.....
My thoughts are in a total disarray and i know i am not making any sense....If you actually read thro the whole thing and didnt understand a word...Relax...it means you are normal!! If you did understand what i wrote down here...well then you are walking from sanity towards insanity.
As for me i am somewhere in between both...not very sure which direction i am going!

Spiderman II

i watched this totally hilarious movie in madison, WI and was wondering how on earth did this movie become sucessful?? it was more like a remake of a mithun's movie in english. what i liked in the movie though was the scientist whose name i forgot now..(was anyways never good in remembering names!) i was wondering how it would be if i had those metal arms which could work for me...god wouldnt that be cool...sure Id be a lot less appealing to women...but then...who cares...do i really dont care...i am not sure!!
Its not even 24 hours since i was on road and now me and my roomie are already planning our next trip to Orlando, Florida...which will be something like 15 hours drive (800 miles) Hmmmm that will be some driving....we were looking for the next long weekend...
God i sooo love summer!!
More later...when i am in office tommorow morning;)

Trip to Madison, WI

Hmmmm Hmmm
The weekend which went by was a long weekend and i drove to madison,
Wisconsin and met parsa, Shyam and J Venkatesh (J).

Friday July 2nd - Saturday July 3rd
I started from Lexington, KY at 6.30pm on friday. i dropped my friend
off in Indianapolis, IN at around 9.30pm(200 miles)...ate some dinner
there then drove to chicago (3 hours drive - 200 miles). reached
chicago at 2.30 am, met paru, ate her awesome food (Vegetable soup,
sambar, potato curry, chips, lime rice. cheese cake, chocolate
brownies and ferroro rocher for dessert!)

Then me and paru started to madison at around 4.45am and we reached
madison at 7.30 am (200 miles). Crashed in the bed...woke up at 12pm
types. Parsa had made channa and so had chappathi channa...left to
gurnee at around 3pm. Gurnee mills is a very big outlet mall in the
US...its abt 2 hours from madison...Hanged out in gurnee till about
7.30pm then went back to madison to see the july 4th
Fireworks...unfortunately it got cancelled due to the rain so we went
for spiderman 2 instead....totally hilarious movie....they must remake
it in tamil with rajnikanth and it will be a runaway hit! got back
home and went to sleep.

Sunday July 4th
got up late...went to the lake. we got some coffee and brownies and
were sitting by the lake and having them looking at the ducks. god
that was soo good...very calming! then just went around campus..went
to capitol building. the campus is bounded on three sides by lakes. so
the whole day we were just walking
around campus. then drove through the arboretum and then finally ate
dinner in a greek restraunt. Food was very ordinary...what ever i
ordered...tasted like hot breads puff filled with spinach! anyways
then just went back to parsa's house and took some more snaps. then we
left madison at around 12.30am and
reached chicago at 3am. went to sleep.

Monday July 5th
Got up at 12pm. took bath and went had some coffee in a nearby place
and left to meet my uncle who stays in the suburbs of chicago. stayed
there till 5pm and left chicago at 5pm. came to Indianapolis at around
8.30pm...ate dinner.and left indianapolis and arrived here in
lexington at 2am.
so that was pretty much what i did....was an awesome trip....only
thing like any other long weekend...it just wasnt long enough!
* drove some 1400 miles this weekend...aint it awesome?

* Must have spent around $150..not sure yet

* got myself a ralph lauren tshirt and trousers at gurnee....i guess the first
branded clothing i bought in the US

* Credit card bills....wonder how i am gonna pay them back...makes me think
"what would a graduate student do without credit cards??"
(Statement Copyright:Parvathi Srinivasan)

* I realized its soo easy to move around with a McNally US atlas...while
coming back from Madison i traced my route in the map and came here..didnt get lost
woow map reading i guess is my new found passion...its pretty cool!

* This trip i realized an important thing...when you go out with your college friends
do not try to see places....just sit beside a lake or beneath a tree and talk about
the good old days...the mistake i did last time when i went to chicago...i learnt
it the hard way...whaddya say paru?? This trip was awesome fun...i wanna do it
again and again and again!!

* One thing i still havent figured out yet is the passion women have to keep their
bathrooms clean!!!! can somebody explain that to me???? i know a girl who spent 50
bucks on bathroom accessories like floor mats etc.??????
